Interventional cardiologist Ramez Nairooz, MD, brings a wealth of expertise in treating complex heart conditions and performing the latest interventional procedures. He moved to Austin from Los Angeles where he completed interventional cardiology fellowship at University of Southern California. He graduated medical school with honors from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. He completed an internal medicine residency at New York Medical College in New York city then cardiology fellowship at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He specializes in complex coronary and peripheral interventions, ASD/PFO closure, treatment of heart failure and valvular heart disease. Prevention and early detection of cardiovascular disease is a special interest of his as well as treating lipid disorders.

Dr. Nairooz, board-certified in echocardiography and cardiovascular medicine, has conducted a wealth of research and has been published in numerous prestigious medical journals as well as presenting in the largest scientific meetings. He applies the latest of cardiovascular research to the care of his patients to achieve the best outcomes. Research topics have included transcatheter aortic valve replacement, coronary interventions and stents, acute coronary syndrome, patent foramen oval closure, and much more. His research has also been covered by numerous prestigious media outlets including Reuters and TCTMD. He is currently working on the relationship between nutrition and cardiovascular disease.

He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and active with the American Heart Association. In his free time, Dr. Nairooz enjoys soccer, swimming and basketball. He is fluent in both English and Arabic.
